From February 23rd till April 6th, 2010, recent works from the Karimov artist school,
including several of my own paintings, were exhibited in the city hall of Siegburg
(capital of the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis, the county surrounding the city of Bonn).

The opening of the exhibition took place on Tuesday, February 23rd in the Siegburg
City Hall with a welcome address by the Mayor of Siegburg, Dr. Haase Mühlbauer, followed
 by a lecture on the aims and technique of the artist school by art historian Herrmann F.
 Schweitzer (Bonn University).
On behalf of my fellow artists, I took the opportunity to express thanks to our numerous guests
 for attending the opening, as well as to the council of the city of Siegburg for making this
 exhibition possible, and finally to Junus Karimov for his guidance and support of our artistic
endeavours.

As an artist, I have been deeply attracted, and moved, by old photographies dating back to the time of my great-grandparents. Out of that fascination grew the idea to use those photographies for a painting of my own ancestry. It was immediately clear to me, that I would not do this in the traditional form of a genealogical tree. My idea instead was to show my forebears in the surroundings and circumstances under which they had lived.

My own ancestors all came from Franconia. My birthplace is Rothenburg ob der Tauber, and it is also the place where my parents and siblings lived. My grandfather on the father’s side moved from nearby Uffenheim, where his parents lived, to Rothenburg to establish a transportation business there. My mother, Lina Weinreich née Ruttmann, was raised in the rural village of Aufkirchen where her parents and their ancestors were the local millers on the river Wörnitz, and worked their own farm.
My wife, who married me in 1966 in the small church at Detwang just outside Rothenburg, in front of an altar crafted by the famous renaissance woodcutter Tilman Riemenschneider, was born in the town of Annaberg-Buchholz in the Erzgebirge mountains in Saxony.

Die 20 Künstler der Gruppe stellen dort rd. 100 Bilder aus den Bereichen Akt, Portrait, Stillleben, Landschaft und figurative Malerei aus. Ich bin mit meinen Bildern “Evolution und Mensch”, “Akt Mensch weiblich II”, “Akt Mensch männlich”, Portrait “Marina”, Stillleben I,II,III, Stillleben “Äpfel mit Weintraube” und der Landschaft “Im Bröltal” vertreten.

Als Mitorganisator der Ausstellung oblag es mir, die Künstler vorzustellen und den Dank der Künstlergruppe an den Geschäftsführer der Stiftung Herrn Jürgen Clausius, den Bonner Kunsthistoriker Herrmann F. Schweitzer, den Künstler und Lehrer Junus Karimow, den Buchautor Norman Liebold und den Gitarristen Bernd Vollbach für ihre tatkräftige Mitgestaltung auszusprechen.

Ausstellung mit der Künstlergruppe KARIMOW  

Im September 2009 werde ich mich an einer Ausstellung der Künstlergruppe KARIMOW mit einigen Bildern beteiligen. Die Künstlergruppe  veranstaltet vom 11.09 -02.10.2009  zusammen mit der Karl- Arnold- Stiftung und der Jakob- Kaiser-Stiftung eine Gemeinschaftsausstellung im Adam- Stegerwald-Haus, Hauptstraße 487, 53639 Königswinter. Gezeigt werden Akt, Portrait, Stillleben und Landschaften.

 Die Vernissage findet am Freitag 11.09 ,17.00 Uhr statt. Einführung durch Herrmann F. Schweitzer, Kunsthistoriker,  Autorenlesung Norman Liebold, Musik  Bernd Vollbach.

Alle Kunstfreunde sind herzlich eingeladen.
